Marathon des Sables
Stuart Holt ran this Sahara endurance to raise money for the fund.
www.saharamarathon.co.uk
57hrs 55m, joint 536th position with a french bloke after 141 miles of being sand blasted and rained on! - Officialy some of the worst weather in the 17yrs of the event
Our thanks to Stuart for putting himself through this endurance
Stuart has completed several marathons in this country and has aspired to do the Sahara marathon for the last few years.
His Mother also suffered from ovarian cancer and lost her fight a couple of years ago. She might have thought him insane for wanting to do this but she would have been proud.
His training started gently running about 30 miles a week. He works for Dale joinery who have sponsored the first instalment of his trip. Additionally he is sponsored by the Highfield Hospital Manchester Road Rochdale OL11 4LZ and sportax.co.uk
He was interviewed by GMR radio on 23rd August.

Equipment purchased - March 2002
£6000 released 6 March 2002
This money has been used to purchase a PCR machine. A piece of apparatus which allows us to amplify DNA and is critical to the development of new and more sensitive detection techniques for our 5T4 antigen which is found expressed by the majority of ovarian cancers and where we are devloping different forms of immunotherapies. A state of the art replacement for older worn-out PCR machines.
